Barry and Rebecca Norling

Norling

Barry Norling is a self-styled, self-taught metal sculptor. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1945, he is the son of Swedish and American parents. Barry moved to Maine in 1971 with his wife, Abby. They live on a 115-acre farm where their three children were raised, and where Barry creates his unique and often humorous array of weathervanes and sculpture in copper, brass and aluminum. Barry’s work has been well received throughout the country. His pieces have been displayed in museums, galleries and shows from Maine to California, and Hawaii.

Rebecca Norling was raised on a farm in Norridgewock, Maine. Her interest in photography began at Skowhegan Area High School with a borrowed 35 mm camera and the school's since-disbanded darkroom. Rebecca studied black & white film photography at the Maine College of Art before transferring to the University of Southern Maine to study writing and education. She currently works as a teacher in Portland and moonlights as a photographer and jewelry designer. An avid gardener and animal lover, Rebecca's work is most often inspired by her fascination with nature. She owes her eye to a long line of familial artists, including her father, sculptor Barry Norling.
