Our shared planet is fragile.
The Gulf oil spill, the Fukushima meltdowns, the frightening effects of global warming--melting icecaps in the Arctic, floods in Pakistan, droughts in Russia--affect us all. Increasingly we realize our fates are tied to the fate of this planet. The troubling question arises, Are we good tenants?
Yet, each spring we celebrate renewal. The bare branches of trees fill out. Our gardens flourish. The miracle repeats. We cultivate our own unique mixes of what’s essential in life, and share a timeless story.
The Globe Project has invited over twenty artists to present their visions of our world. These globes will be displayed in shop windows of downtown Skowhegan Maine from June 24th through August, 2011.
